Peter Quick

Winner Aviation Corporation has received a new asset as of March 2008 when Peter J. Quick became the new Avionics Manager. He brings over 32 years of experience and education to Winner Aviation. Peter graduated college from North Central Institute in Clarksville, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Science in Communications Electronics. Peter had no idea that he would soon understand what the word “Avionics” meant until he volunteered to go to the United States Army Signal Advanced School in Augusta, Georgia, where he received his Avionics Diploma. Peter was a Chief Warrant Officer for the Candidate School in the Military, where he worked in the avionics shops and serviced various types of aircraft. He served 21 years in the United States Military and received numerous Honors, awards, and certifications. Peter attended the only installation school in the world, which is an honor in itself, and received a Communications Electronics Installer Certificate. Peter was awarded the Aircraft Electrician Certificate of Apprenticeship by the United States Department of Labor.

Peter was the Avionics Manager at Robertson Aircraft and then became the Director of Avionics Installations at Air Services of Cleveland. Peter’s passion for avionics has led him to Winner Aviation where his knowledge and experience will benefit the customers by offering them “what’s new” in Avionics today and helping them to update their aircraft for the future. Peter has high expectations for the Avionics Department at Winner Aviation and he plans to help both the Avionics Department and Winner Aviation Corporation grow and expand in the near future.

If you have any questions or need your Avionics System installed or serviced, contact Peter Quick at 1-800-837-4964 and he will gladly be of service to you.

Did you know...

In February 2009, the International COSPAS-SARSAT Satellite Tracking Program will be terminating the 121.5 and 243 MHz emergency locator transmitter satellite signals and replacing them with the newer, more efficient 406 MHz satellite signal. The decision to do so was due to problems with the 121.5 and 243 frequencies, making it hard for search and rescue authorities to reach the site of the emergency because of poor precision and often false alarms. According to the NOAA website, the ground stations receive over 1000 alerts from 121.5 beacons, and fewer than 2 are actual distresses. The 406 MHz frequency provides authorities with better accuracy and information, allowing the rescue to be more successful. According to the NOAA website, the NOAA, U.S. Coast Guard, Air Force, and NASA (the four Federal Agencies who manage, operate, and use the SARSAT system) are strongly advising users of 121.5/243 MHz beacons to switch to 406. The FAA is strongly recommending that aircraft operators switch to the 406 frequency as well.

Winner Aviation feels that this switch is necessary, as we want to ensure the safety of our aircraft operators and customers. We have already installed the 406 MHz in various aircrafts and have heard wonderful results. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to get the new 406 MHz installed in your aircraft, call Peter Quick at 1-800-837-4964 or email at pquick@winner-aviation.com.
